As someone who often uses their old iPod headphones from ~2001 in their pixel 2a and is looking into getting a new phone, I really appreciate this PSA. (Also, wtf, why don't new phones have headphone jacks?! 😭)

Here's one of me (I think I was supposed to be a power ranger? 😅), my little sister (Presumably as Pocahontas), my older brother (As a ninja, so you might have to look closely to find him), and Danny (As the karate kid? Or an attempt at the white ranger?). This is either '95 or '96, but I'm not sure

Oh hey! I went to DigiPen just a bit after the Narbacular Drop team was hired at Valve, so everyone was talking about that success story while I was going there. It was really cool to play both Narbacular Drop and Portal to see the evolution of their ideas!

Grayboxing + playtesting and iterating is totally the way to go IMO. Start off with just a general idea for the level (eg, "a tower of a time wizard"). Build out the minimum necessary to sell the idea (eg, a tower and maybe some clock-related things). Then keep playtesting and iterating from there.
