My 12yo still hasn’t had his flu jab. Just checked with school (All Saints) and they’re due next Tuesday. Surely this is way too late??? Hoping something being said about this higher up?

A man infected with measles has just died in New Mexico- he was unvaccinated. In the US, ~ last year 40% of people with measles were so sick they needed to hospitalized. Vaccines can prevent this.

Terrifying
The red ones are America’s new allies. The future is already here.
BREAKING: US supports Russia and votes against UN resolution initiated by Ukraine and Europe.

Seismic statement that the US administration now sides with Putin.

This 🙈😳😬
It's weird when a single country has a Pyongyang style hold on how other nations use that technology.

This should be deeply concerning to all residents of earth outside of the US.

The new definition of #GeneralPractice clearly delineates the distinct contribution of GPs within a wider team as consultants in community-based whole-person medicine

Air pollution has dropped significantly in #Paris in the last 15 years. Mayor @annehidalgo.bsky.social’s leadership has traded car space for green space, safe bike space, kid space.. and traded pollution for people.

Good trade.

Lots to learn from other countries, but specific context and nuance really matters says @sjanereed.bsky.social @nuffieldtrust.bsky.social

Prev attempts to lift and shift #hospitaltohome from other countries have often failed because they have functional social care. We don’t.

And now for the parody that makes a mockery of the real NHS England pathway

Everyone with even a smidgeon of clinical training can see that this scenario is completely barking mad (expensive, wasteful, unnecessary, inappropriate)
Are there no doctors at all left at NHSE? Is no-one talking to them now?
Deeply embarrassing.
So this is the new great idea🤔

I’m pretty sure if Sarah had seen a GP she wouldn’t have needed to have a CT scan, no need to speak to the ENT registrar & yes it could be managed in the community

Why does NHS England always underestimate the skills of GPs?

NHS England would be better using AI for their referral pathways rather than the current incumbents
AI understands patients need to see a GP🤷🏻‍♂️
@rthonwesstreeting.bsky.social
I despair at the current state of NHS England planning, funding more GPs will save £Millions in care & referrals

Don’t even know where to start. Just what do the NHS manager bosses think I do all day?????

Context is key to understanding the pressures in the NHS

111 have 69200 calls a day
A&E 72000 attendances
Ambulance incidents 25000

GP practices have 1.4million consultations & several million more calls

GP practices deal with 90% of demand & 20% more than 2019

Yes this!! 3/4 of us (2 adults age 51 & son age 11) have been floored by it. Feels like the vaccine was a placebo (although whatever the 9yo had protected him!) FIL just been admitted to hospital with confirmed flu.
Do we know if the main variant causing the wave is in the vaccine?
January 3, 2025 at 8:39 PM
I’ve been absolutely floored by flu this last week and that’s despite the vaccine. Struggled to persuade many younger patients to have it. And couldn’t give Covid vaccines away. A long winter ahead….

This is 67p less than 8 years ago in real terms

If you can’t see a GP it’s because NHS England have cut the funding for GP practices

Yes I have had several awkward conversations with octogenarians when I basically haven’t had a clue as to why they aren’t eligible…. 🙈🤷🏽‍♀️
If they are concerned about NHS capacity this winter with a potential quademic of aerosol transmitted diseases isn’t it time to try n prevent more by ventilation/masking and expanding vax capacity eg why only 75-79 yr old but not 81yr old eligible for RSV?
