For Trump, DC is just the beginning. This is a dangerous distraction. He will continue to push past the safeguards of our democracy because his economic policies are failing, public opinion is shifting away from him, and no matter how hard he tries, he will still be all over the Epstein files.

Reading my local paper this morning: farmers see loss of income, people with housing vouchers see rental increases due to cuts, schools worry about loss of funding. Two months in and our country is poorer & worse off than we were in... January.

It’s fun trying to find that line between “I need to remain vigilant of the horrors afoot” and also “oh no my heart is racing and my jaw is making weird creaky sounds and I can taste pennies.”

Israel and Hamas have agreed to a phased ceasefire deal that includes boosting aid into Gaza + the release of Israeli hostages and Palestinian prisoners.

Over the last 15 months, civilians have been targeted, attacked + killed at a scale unprecedented in the recent history of Israel and Palestine.

Every time I read about banning books, I think of this:

Reading a book with a gay character will not make you gay any more than reading a book about Einstein will make you a genius.
If you're afraid that books might change someone's thinking, you're not afraid of books — you're afraid of thinking.

Decriminalisation, or even basic harm reduction e.g. drug testing in clubs, would go a long way to reducing drug deaths, & stopping tragic incidents like this.

Instead, we'll continue the War On Drugs & arrest dealers after the fact, rather than focusing on prevention.
