All kidding about this nonsense answer aside: The regime is asserting the power to murder without trial a boat full of people suspected of drug trafficking, who easily could have been intercepted and arrested instead. That is unconscionable and horrifying even assuming everyone aboard was guilty.
Q: On the Venezuela vessel strike, what legal authority were you guys working under?

JD VANCE: The legal authority is there are people who are bringing -- literal terrorists -- who are bringing deadly drugs into our country

From a few months ago, my take on Toronto's high-stakes fight over bike lanes:

"It is the completeness of [a bike] network — not its total length — that determines how willing people are to ride. When an important spine like Bloor Street is gained or lost, everyone feels it."
Why the Best Bike Lanes Always Get Blamed
A standoff over cycling infrastructure and traffic congestion in Toronto shows why building protected bike lanes on essential corridors draws controversy along with riders.

If your goal as a government is to prevent death rather than enable and accelerate it, it's amazing what you can do.
Helsinki (pop 657,000) has not had a single traffic death during the last twelve months.

Is the FDA about to keep pregnant women from taking antidepressants?
A panel of experts repeated what one women's health expert called "MAHA talking points."

"Trump has spent half a year boasting about how he is withdrawing our collective ability to help those facing personal and collective emergencies. The result is that everyone — local officials, mainstream media, social media users, even Grok — thinks of him as soon as there's a disaster."
Trump gutted the weather service. Then Texas flooded.
It's a brutal reminder that in disasters, we need the federal government.

The reason I get really mad about people who dismiss AC as a frivolous luxury is the *same* reason I get really mad about people who claim that USAID was useless or evil:

these arguments all boil down to “I think the global death of millions of largely poor people is acceptable collateral damage.”

We just learned the latest CBO analysis will cut Medicaid by $980 billion.

Massive public safety implications;
The massive reconciliation bill that Congress is considering would lead to million of peoples losing Medicaid coverage, among other safety-net cuts. Research has shown that when Medicaid has been cut, crime rates have gone up: boltsmag.org/medicai...
“We Need to See the Bigger Picture”: How Cuts to Medicaid Hurt Public Safety
A new study found that when people lose health insurance, crime rates go up. Bolts spoke to one of the authors about the implications, at a time of a nationwide drop-off in Medicaid.

It is 100% carrying water for the opposition to participate in this collective delusion that Dems for some reason need to answer for every teen who throws a rock rather than hold the Trump admin accountable for intentionally creating chaos and breaking the law to stoke violence.

They are in charge.

UBI opposition from the left is to me more annoying than opposition from the right. Why is it so hard to understand that yes, Bill Gates will get UBI too, just as he would get universal healthcare, but taxes will be used as a subtraction mechanism instead of means-testing. JUST TAX THE RICH FFS.
