This is NGC7380 (Wizard Nebula) shot from my backyard over three nights (7/05-7/07 2025). 14 hours total exposure. NGC7380 is an emission nebula located in Cepheus and is approx. 7200 LY distant. Hubble palette on right. OSC camera, dual narrow band filter. Equipment in my bio.

The Elephant Trunk Nebula! Another clear period last night and the D3 managed to get three hours on it (30 second exposures at 60 gain). It all looked like nothing of note until I had a go at processing it. I'll add more given time. #astronomy #astrophotography @stormhour.com @photohour.bsky.social

NGC6888 shot on July 2. 180 minutes of exposure with asi533mc, svx080t and nbz-II, which is not quite as much as I wished for, but summer nights are short, and I was trying to avoid weather and fireworks. The French call it la nébuleuse du Croissant, and they are obviously correct. #astrophotography

Didn’t get the Aurora last night but did manage to get a few deep sky objects from the big rig ‘scope in the backyard.

Despite the horrific light pollution of Vivid, seeing was good!

Here’s the famous Pillars of Creation, in the Eagle Nebula.

1 hour integration time for all.

All spiral galaxies rotate, and their shapes are caused by patterns in how stars bunch up. This is Hubble’s view of NGC 2525, a spiral galaxy located about 70 million light-years from Earth that continues to (ever so slowly) twirl.

Casper the Friendly Ghost Nebula (M78) is located in the constellation Orion. This a wider field of view photo of M78 and the region that surrounds it than my earlier post. Taken in January and processed on this fine Nor'easter stormy morning with howling winds.

Sh2-280 is another fairly bright, hydrogen-rich area . I used NarrowbandNormalization to boost the blue oxygen and then played with curves and colors masks to get the red and fiery orange look.

I recently spent a wonderful evening under the stars at the dark sky reserve in South Australia. The core of the Milky Way was directly overhead. It was so bright it felt like you could reach out and touch it! 🔭🧪
