These are the new lyrics to Die Forelle. I don't make the rules.
I just finished your laundry
It is so very dry
I know you think it's boring
But appreciate me please try

You could dry your undies on a clothesline
You could dry your shirts upon a rock
Aren't I just so much better
Even with your missing sock?

I was watching @coralcitycamera.bsky.social and trying to identify the types of fish. This is how I learned of the "slippery dick." I have questions . . .

Where are my musicologists at? I’m still trying to find a book reviewer for this book, www.press.uillinois.edu/books/?id=p0...? It’s an important one and I would love to get a thoughtful review for the Journal of Musicological Research (I’m book reviews editor)!

This is a really nuanced thread on why opera is a lot of things and continues to be a lot of things to a lot of people. It's way better than my knee-jerk take that the OP clearly doesn't engage with the opera world beyond the Met broadcasts.
I fully respect criticisms of the sometimes archaic nature of opera, but unless I'm misunderstanding it, this one is only true if your definition of opera is the same handful of productions the Met and ROH do every year. There is FAR more opera that aims to make old and new works fresh and relevant.
Opera stopped being a legitimate artistic and cultural form long ago. It is no longer possible to actually go to an Opera. When you go to The Magic Flute you’re really going to a historical re-enactment of The Magic Flute. This tends to be reinforced by behavior and attire of the audience. 🤷‍♂️

This is a journey.

Someone pay this man to write a book. (Not me, though. We don't publish self-deprecating humor--only scholarship and poetry, neither of which make me snort with laughter.)

In 6+ years of being fairly active on Twitter, I never hit 1000 followers. I now have over 1200 followers on Bluesky. Not that I measure the value of social media in followers. Just making an observation about how lively it's becoming over here. Also, starter packs.

Taking note of this as my oldest will turn 13 this month.
My advice to parents of kids who are nearing their size (but not quite), is that if yr kid is gonna get an article of clothing that you also like, & would wear, get it in your size (even if it’s 1/2 a size up on them-they’ll wear big & grow into it)- soon it won’t fit them, & it will fit you.
