I don't know of any mismatches, I think the aim is to familiarise readers w recently innovated pronouns (e.g. ze/hir) where the acc form can't be inferred from the nom

I would think of this more in terms of reciprocation than reversal. So many languages only allow a subset of verbs to enter the reciprocal construction/take reciprocal morphology, but others are super flexible. Transitivity is a typical criterion for reciprocalisation, but not necessarily/only
