Another inconvenient truth is that rejoining won’t put us back to where we were pre Brexit - even if we kept opt outs (unlikely) businesses that shut or relocated won’t come back immediately - took 40 years to build last time.
We should rejoin ASAP for this very reason but must manage expectations.

I think Sony/Nintendo explained this when they put up European console prices following US imposing tariffs on Japanese imports - something along the lines of "we have to maintain revenue/profitability or our share price will fall, so if we make less in US, then we'll have to make more elsewhere".

1. Labour adopt populist policy + make it their own trying to win over right wing voters.
2. They don’t win over right wing voters.
3. Lab base gets annoyed + considers alternatives.
4. The inherent flaws in the populist policy becomes apparent but they own them now.
5. Growth falls.
