This is true about Elon in other fields too. I have spent a fair bit of time over the last few years explaining to people why Elon's FSD is a complete scam, and how his humanoid robot is total b.s. as well
I was working with an ROV start up at the time and the day Musk unveiled his weird death tube plan, it was like someone had flipped a switch and everyone went from "he's a quirky lil' innovator" to "oh shit, this guy has no idea what he's talking about."
