I'm glad you're each able to get a little rest. I know the mix of emotions is the most exhausting thing to have to deal with.

It is so hard. My husband couldn't even do it for his dad. When I was 22, my dad did everything he could to shield me from his illness. I'd rather see everyone go like my grandmothers - suddenly and with little suffering. Sending hugs to you and your Mom and stepDad.

Following the examples of this administration, all the people being investigated should be rounded up and incarcerated until their cases can be straightened out...unless they'd like to make themselves El Salvador's or Uganda's problem instead.🤷‍♀️

I've just spent the last week in Madrid deciding if I'm too hot (from clothing and hot flashes) or too cold (from insufficient clothing or being sweaty after being too hot or the weather). But I had a good time anyway!

I hope you liked that tissue.

I have to say that as my allergies have progressed over time, my nose may feel like it's running (and it may be, somewhere), but there is nothing to blow. I still fucking hate the snifflers though.

My sister says she uses AI to write her uncomfortable emails. Those were my favorite kind to write...

Sorry to hear about your step-dad. I hope his passing in ad comfortable as can be. My sympathies to your mother too.

Yep - a friend gave me some yarn for a retirement gift.

Working on my Reddit-inspired SEO skills, wherein every time a terrible person is mentioned, you also include all the bad things about them, so it never falls off the search page.

Thiel, who was a part of Epstein's emails? The one who bankrolled Vance for office? Is he continuing to try and ruin the world for everyone else again?

I just made this one. I will be donating it to a hospice center once I finish the shawl I'm knitting. I also made a hat with the leftover yarn, but if I had foresight, I would have bought some white for the top and the hat would look like candy corn. Hat is also going to the hospice place.

It's good to have a plan. My stuff is easy - everything goes to the kid. The issue is that she will try to keep me alive forever to the point of attempted reanimation of my corpse, while I wish to sign my DNR right now. Probably going to have to assign a sister to make sure the plug gets pulled.

I mean, now that the traitorous gizzards have been silenced, it's time for the rest of the body parts to take center stage?

My (female) boss thought that I ruined the workplace. 1) She's definitely a conservative, so that tracks. 2) (Un)Surprisingly, when I retired, things did not improve. In fact, they worsened. Maybe I wasn't the woman who was the problem?

My 19 yo 1) texted to ask me where her ballot was. We're in IL - voting was in April (or March?) And I am sure I made her fill out a ballot. 2) told me how disappointed she was in her new best friend who said something insulting about Kamala Harris. More proud of her every day!

I have discovered my next retirement task. Apparently, I will need to dig up my husband and reanimate him, so I can kill him. He blamed me for losing the Arvo Pärt CD, which I found this morning while looking through his travel CD case for something to listen to. 🤬

I hope you laughed and said "is that speech supposed to get me to care? Didn't work." Or "if you want something from someone, it's probably better not to insult them before you ask."

I would also notethat choosing religious mentors from among my mom's friends did not work out well, and it's no wonder I'm a heathen agnostic. Auntie Rita was OK, but Uncle Mike got the neighbor pregnant and subsequently got divorced. Mom's friend, the priest who baptized me, left the priesthood.🤷🏽‍♀️

My godmother, Auntie Rita, was a friend of my mom's. Uncle Mike, my godfather, was married to Mom's cousin. Aunt Florence and Uncle Steve were my Dad's aunt and uncle. Cousin Margo is my Dad's cousin. Or maybe his cousin's daughter. Who knows or cares? America, man...you're killing me.

I like to just stare at that kind of dramatic soliloquy, and when they take a breath, say "Are you done? Anyways..." because I *am* cruel and unkind to people who are GETTING ON MY NERVES.

Good luck.

These idiots

Of course she did - it obviously got dirty again!

(You are not a terrible daughter, BTW. You tried to make everything comfortable and satisfactory for her. But next time, leave her a room to attack.)

What I have learned is that when you are struggling and people want to help you, it is easier to assign them tasks than to manage their emotions about whatever you're struggling with. You get a job done and they stop bothering you. They get to put their concern into action. Everyone wins.
