That thing you always wanted to do. That novel, that poem, that piece of art. Start it now. Don't wait. Make time. Give yourself permission to start. It will never be easier than it is now: maybe harder, but never easier.

For example, the Supreme Court is saying that a trans woman gets protection as a woman if she 'passes'. Whether that's right or wrong ethically it's totally at odds with the Supreme Court's blithe assertion that its decision 'is neither disadvantageous to nor removes protections from trans people'.

As a survivor of several attempts and having lost good friends to suicide, I’ve decided to take on the challenge of walking 5K everyday in May to raise funds for CALM, a charity that gives vital suicide prevention support.

I’d love to raise £125. www.justgiving.com/fundraising/...

I’ve just created a membership tier on my ko-fi page for £1 a month. Every fortnight I’ll share a sketched portrait like these. Members can send in requests for my next sketches. It’s an easy and low cost way to regularly support my art. ❤️ ko-fi.com/alfiewhitby/...

Made the mistake of reading the comments on a recent clickbait video about Jodie Whittaker saying something seemingly “woke” about Doctor Who. Truly, the vitriol that still continues against the actor is vile. For a show that has brought so many joy, why do we pull others down? What’s the point?

Utterly devastating situation in the UK TV production industry
"I see articles about factory closures when 100 people lose their jobs, and it makes national news. It’s 40 times worse for the film and TV industry, and nobody seems to notice.”

Same thing came up in a WGGB town-hall meeting this week. Politicians assume we're all rich, or forget we exist.

I'm grateful to Fen for being the first to speak about it publicly. Liminal 11, the publisher for my tarot deck, hasn't paid me or any other creator for over a year.
I’ve had a lot of individual messages so I figured I’d make a public post.

The publisher for Seed & Sickle, Folk Magic & Healing, and the Citadel (special edition only - this post doesn’t affect the standard edition of the deck, which is published by a different company) is no longer trading.

So cuts to benefits and cuts to support that helps us work (and be less reliant on benefits)? Disabled people don't disappear when government withdraws support... we just suffer.

If you ordered my daft doodle book from me, I’ve issued a refund to everyone. I didn’t get enough preorders to make it and I’d be making a loss. It’s also not completely finished yet and my hearts not in it. Rather refund. If I finish the book eventually, folks can order again.

@mrewanmorrison.bsky.social Am I able to preorder your new book directly from you? Am I trying to get a sneaky signed copy? Maybe. Hahah! Happy to follow the links via your publisher.

one of the biggest and simplest ways to both do something, and FEEL like you’re doing something, is to find a small nonprofit with a cause you care about. donate, volunteer, join a board. offer pro bono skills if you have them (tech support, accounting, legal). help them fundraise. they need you
I think people feel exhausted in advance because we’ve trained ourselves to think marches and rallies are the only way to fight, when in fact there are much quieter, more effective, and less exhausting ways to fight - like not conceding in advance, and not panic-sharing stuff without vetting

I quit things when my mental illness tells me I’m useless. I quit things I’ve taken years building.

I quit making music as Laurence Made Me Cry. A project that earned me award nominations, took me on tours and enabled me to work with so many amazing people.

Laurence is coming out of retirement.
