The signs are very ignorable. If it looks like a cycle route and has cycle route infrastructure at either end, it will get used as a cycle route.

Last I went they gave you an hour free. Turning on non-persistent MAC randomisation meant you could get another free hour by disconnecting and reconnecting. And I swear the walls are a cage to prevent you using your own data...
