We use this phylogenetic framework to test how deep-time biome change ☀️📉 has shaped the group's diversification history, with a focus on Sahul 🌏 - where most extant diversity is found today.

New paper out today in @pnas.org presenting near-complete phylogeny of the Grevilleoideae subfamily of Proteaceae plants, representing years of work and huge collaboration from an amazing team - ft. @marcelcardillo.bsky.social @hsauquet.bsky.social @austinmast.bsky.social and many others not on bsky

Given the recent blessings of the starter pack gods, I'll quickly reintroduce myself.

I'm a postdoc at ANU 🦘and soon to be starting a DECRA Fellowship on paleoenvironments and diversification of plants and animals across the Asia-Pacific 🌏 #biogeography #macroevolution

This is my lil stinko, Jura🐕

Hi @willgearty.bsky.social, big fan of your package deeptime here, thanks for all your work! I had a quick Q - is there a way to properly plot tip labels on a radial phylo when using coord_geo_radial? Mine seem to rotate in wierd ways, but I feel like I'm missing something obvious.

Want to play God and model the evolution of biodiversity? Let there be light!

We have a couple more spots available for a workshop we are hosting at the ANU in Canberra on the Gen3sis biodiversity simulation modelling software 🦎🧙 Come join! We might even be able to contribute to travel costs.

Do you study historical dispersal between biotas and its consequences? Submit an abstract for our symposium on “Biotic Interchanges across taxa through Molecular and Fossil data” at the 3rd Joint Congress of Evolutionary Biology #Evol2024 in Montreal shorturl.at/ekxHZ

Ah yes, makes sense. I did my PhD on 'across'.

After taking out best student talk at #Biosystematics2023 Putter gave a very entertaining PhD exit seminar @ANU yesterday illuminating the unseen world of Australian blind snakes. #blindsnake #blindcake
