When I was first investigating doing one of these I was advised to not publish anything until I had 4 chapters in the bag.

But ignoring the hindsight issue, I would say that the only real time to get stuff done when kids are in the mix is when everyone else is asleep

I have absolutely had days like that in the last week. Second guessing or unable to be motivated to attempt anything I thought I wanted to do when I woke up. Hibernating would be a wonderful option. But hopefully this feeling will pass. And try not to be too harsh on yourself in the meantime

Earlier time periods give me a chance to really invoke feelings that seem to be harder to connect with now. Exploration and adventure, trekking to parts unknown and discovering lost treasures is easier in the 1920s before Google Earth
