Suddenly putting massive tariffs on products we can't even make here is obviously stupid and destructive, but the existing "free trade" regime is also clearly exploitative, unjust, and unsustainable, so I am hoping for at least a little nuance from leftists on this issue.

Preventing any one group of people from accumulating too much power is the entire ballgame. Our brains cannot handle having power over others. Power convinces you that you're innately superior, which makes you cruel and stupid.
