🗨️ @pascoesabido.bsky.social "the hydrogen hype was created hand in hand by the fossil fuel industry, with the European Commission – even the guidelines have been written with the industry!"

French-owned EDF is considering selling its renewable assets (apart from hydro) as it looks to invest in new nuclear.

EDF faces significant financial difficulties, partially linked to its ageing nuclear fleet. Rather than turn to cheap renewables, they double down.

Shocking performance from @ec.europa.eu's press service which is withdrawing yet another element of the Green Deal but refusing to explain context and reasoning. "It's not acceptable to make an announcement of this importance without any explanation," says @davidcarretta.bsky.social. Check.

Wow! Two thirds of #EV in China are now cheaper than their #fossilfuel counterparts.

Yet, some automakers are still betting on the combustion engine. Like polishing their saddles in 1900 and Mercedes just unveiled “witchcraft on wheels“ with the invention of the car 🙈

Europe can’t outspend China in the Global South, so it markets ‘values’ and ‘equal partnerships’ instead. But the €300b Global Gateway is rooted in colonialism and centuries of exploitation. A thread:

To put it bluntly, Global Gateway is about persuading countries in the Global South to take up loans for projects that they do not need, for supposed benefits that they will not have. All of this conveniently allows the European countries to perpetuate centuries-old strategies rooted in exploitation

Europe’s public finance is off track: The @eib.org props up “competitiveness,” the wealthy military complex & polluters’ “clean energy” projects—missing a green, just economy.

But what if we flipped the script? We ask @yanisvaroufakis.bsky.social on #EUWatchdogRadio 👉
