DFO forecast a poor 2025 sockeye return. Instead they are sky-rocketing! This lineage of sockeye crashed in 2009, triggering the Cohen Inquiry and recommendation #19 was removal of salmon farms from the Discovery Islands. Minister Jordan did this in Dec 2020 and now sockeye numbers are rising.

Respect for Kwiakah! Innovative ideas on how thrive as the trees keep standing. When over a 1M salmon came back to them after removing the Mowi salmon farm in Phillips Arm, DFO wanted to intervene. Kwiakah said, no, we will let the salmon handle this themselves. It's honour to work with them

The 2024 chum salmon are the 1st that went to sea AFTER salmon farms were removed from the Discovery Islands and their survival is off the charts! The Salmon are Talking.
