Remember that every authoritarian action Trump is taking must be understood against the backdrop of his declining popularity.

He feigns strength, but the reality is that he's operating from a place of weakness.

Unions protect workers in many other ways as well, like ensuring that promised benefits are granted (as my union did for me this summer).
Wages of unionized workers are 13% higher than their nonunion counterparts.

But unions also set a higher pay standard that all workers enjoy.

In high-union-density states, median household income is $12,000 higher than in low-union-density states.

This is why unions are vital.

All the dire implications notwithstanding it is hilarious how evil this technology is. Billions of dollars spent on this greasy lying stupid thing that was literally built to replace people, and everyone that uses it gets weaker, lazier, dumber, and sadder for having done so. Well done all around.

About two-thirds of U.S. adults expect the new tax law will help the rich, according to an AP-NORC poll. Most think it will do more to hurt than help low-income people. About half say it will do more harm than good for middle-class people.
Most US adults think the GOP tax bill will help the wealthy and harm the poor, AP-NORC poll finds
A new AP-NORC poll shows that while Republican elected officials are promoting their recently passed tax and spending bill as a win for working Americans, everyday Americans broadly see it as a win for the wealthy.

Lander: "It's just gross, racist bigotry. Meanwhile he's running an optimistic, upbeat campaign for a NY where everybody belongs, and I feel proud as the highest-ranking Jewish elected official in NYC to be supporting somebody who would be the first Muslim mayor—what could be more NYC than that?"

Love you, Brad Lander! Hope you'll have a very prominent place in a Mamdani administration.
Hope and solidarity won tonight, and will win again in November.

Congratulations, @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social

People immediately pivoting to slot Lander into a progressive primary challenge are missing the implicit deal in the cross-endorsement: he's going to be deputy mayor, essentially COO of New York City. He's going to use his experience with the inner workings of government to help Mamdani deliver.

While we’re rallying around Lander, who’s been a lock for my top 2 as long as he’s been in the race, I love this video he did about disability access on NYC transit
Whether visible or invisible, permanent or temporary, almost all of us will have or know someone with a disability.

As Mayor, I’ll fight like hell for truly accessible public transit.

I’ve known Brad Lander for almost twenty years and he has always been a mensch and risking his neck to stand up for immigrants isn’t a stunt, it’s who he has always been
