This experience was amazing! I was a panelist at the Green Zone at the COP30, talking about fire and resilient landscapes and communities, together with people representing the government, female fire brigade and indigenous people! #cop30

The Cerrado is really amazing! Post-fire flowering is one of the most interesting and beautiful fire response! It is not a response of a specific species or family! Bulbostylis paradoxa never fails and can be seen flowering already 18 hs after fire! @leveg.bsky.social @programabiota.bsky.social

We just did the 153th burn since 2013 in our plots! In each burn we measured different fire parameters like fire intensity, fuel load, fire temperature, etc. Thanks to all students, local people and the fire brigade who helped in all experimental fires! @leveg.bsky.social @programabiota.bsky.social

📢📢🔥🔥🔥 I am so excited to announce our book about Fire in the South American Ecosystems! It has 14 Chapters led mostly by south american authors. Thanks to all authors for their valuable contribution! link.springer.com/book/10.1007...

And we talked a lot about seeds at the #ATBC2025! Thanks @caordonezparra.bsky.social for organizing this amazing symposium and delivering this great talk! @heloizazirondi.bsky.social summed up 10 years of our research about fire and seed ecology in the Cerrado! You guys rock!

Yesterday the BRIVAC, a volunteer fire brigade, did a prescribed fire during the II Seminário Regional do Manejo Integrado do Fogo. In Brazil, local volunteers are essential for the success of fire management, including during wildfires. Bravo BRIVAC!

II Seminário Regional do Manejo Integrado do Fogo: local event, organized by the volunteer fire brigade of Cavalcante, where everyone can talk about their favorite topic: working with fire. Scientist, society, government, traditional peoples and volunteers.

This sedge never stops amazing me: first picture was taken 18 hours after fire; second picture - 36 hours post-fire. Detail: this was an early-dry season fire! Bulbostylis paradoxa fire-super star
🔥🔥🔥🔥

Burning for the 7th time our early-dry season fire plots. We have established the fire experiment in 2013 with 5 treatments related to fire frequency and season. At each fire, we sample fire parameters. Twice a year, we sample vegetation and biomass.

super excited to begin this new project (Biota-MIF), establishing plots using GGG protocols and analyzing the effects of fire management on vegetation and ecosystem services! More data of grassy ecosystems to come!

@heloizazirondi.bsky.social is a Dr now! Congrats Helô! Dr Heloiza L Zirondi - the master of the seeds!

This week we had the first meeting of our Biota-Cerrado on Fire project! We are a multidisciplinary group of researchers from different parts of the world and Brazil, composed of 70% of female researchers! I am so happy to have put this amazing team together! #CerradoOnFire #Cerrado #FireEcology

Logo logo começaremos a trazer novidades sobre nosso projeto de co-produção Biota-MIF, que avalia o Manejo Integrado do Fogo. Fique de olho!
Very soon we will bring news about our co-production project Biota-MIF, which evaluates the Integrated Fire Management! Stay tuned!

In the last days I visited the Royal Botanic Garden of Edinburgh, University of Copenhagen and Karlstad Universitet. I had the pleasure to meet nice colleagues, strengthen collaboration and talk about what I like the most: savannas, fire, and our FAPESP projects @programabiota.bsky.social

Preparing my talk for tomorrow! It is always a pleasure to talk about fire and the Cerrado to colleagues abroad! This time, in Copenhagen!

We recently got a big FAPESP project approved! For the next 5 yr, me, Alexander Christianini, Vânia Pivello and Davi Rossatto (PPs’ project) will be leading the research involving fire effects on plant communities ecophysiology, ecosystem services, plant-animal interactions (1/2)
