One thing about this (discourse is still ongoing 7 hours later btw) that kills me is the people insisting an openly queer man can’t have toxic masculinity are being real quiet about the interview where Sam says Lestat has issues with toxic masculinity. I have seen nobody address it all day.
watched iwtvtwt have a complete breakdown over the idea of a queer man having some toxic masculinity to work through.
one side saying lestat is inauthentic in his expression of queerness and the other saying his sometimes feminine presentation means he isn’t toxically masculine. fascinating.
