Jordan pulled from a lot of references, I think the thing is that Tolkien is just the most familiar. I will say that the early parts of the first book are the most heavy in Tolkien allusions, some of which was just because those were the popular tropes of the era. The show overall toned it down.

Yeah, the lack of mention is interesting. I just have to assume the tower took it and hid it away. It's too dangerous for Mat to be walking around with it.

I sort of like Asmo but in terms characters or events I worry about getting cut he's low on my list.

So with all that said my modified best guess for seasons 1-5 is:
1. TEOTW
2. TGH
3. TSR
4. TDR/TFOH/LOC
5. "The Slog" + KOD.
In my opinion rushing to Dumai's Well is a mistake but squishing ACOS though AMOL into a single season would be a bigger mistake.

All 3 could fill their own seasons if needed. Squishing would be rough but possible. Honestly 7 seasons could work quite well. 6 would be... an actual ending, if nothing else.

I think to prevent chaos the plan for seasons 4 and 5 needs to be consistent regardless of whether they get (if they get) 6, 7, or 8 seasons. I think the final seasons, regardless of the numbers are very likely to focus on the Sanderson books.

As much as I don't like it, as someone who really loves TFOH and LOC, I think it was likely a choice between giving just one of books 4-6 a full season and TSR was the right choice for that. So I think season 4 will probably be an insane mashup of TDR, TFOH, and LOC.

But the trouble is we know that Rafe has plans to do it in 6, 7, or 8 seasons. And my mistake was just assuming he would adapt in a pace for 8 seasons and then wrap it up in 6 or 7 if he had to. And he could do that but it would be reckless. It could mean having to cram 7/8 books into a season 6!

Things have to be compressed. No matter how you try to configure adapting it in 64 episodes across 8 seasons some stuff has to get adapted in highlights or just broadstrokes. The question is just what? I took it as obvious that you'd want to give the most iconic books (arguably 4-6) the most time.

And I think that is a decent pace, especially just looking at the first two seasons. But based on the current season plus things Rafe has said I actually think that's pretty unrealistic.

I'll take the positivity I can get but it is fascinating that anything short of adapting scenes and dialogue directly from the books read purely as "bad adaptation" to a lot of people.

I think he only names Ishamael. I think aside from Moghedien, Ishamael, and Lanfear that the only other forsaken the show has directly named is Graendal.

While I feel like the logic makes sense, Moghedien and Semirhage seemed to have statues clearly meant to be each of them.

Yeah, it felt extremely obvious but I think a lot of people were underestimating the show's attention to detail. That combined with the fandom's overwhelming preference for theorizing about everything. If it's a settled fact there's nothing to theorize about.

I think if she was going to be in season 3 they would have gone ahead and cast someone to actually play her for the season 2 finale rather than just using an extra. I think she'll be in season 4.
