Very amateur macro photographer fascinated by the insect world (esp. shieldbugs, dragonflies, ants, and a Moth-trapper in VC66. Old fart metalhead, into country walks, playing table tennis, darts and chess (though shite at them all). Love a right laugh.
What a beauty! 👍

Tried and failed to think of a punny reply so we'll just say it's a charity-fest, donations to Moths Matter, cheers 😁 👍

Thanks for that, yes I read much on the subject before checking with my County Recorder, and though this seems a likely Autumnal moth the bottom line seems to be we can never be sure unless the 'abdomen' has been examined, and for females even this doesn't solve the conundrum. Cheers.

Yeah, can't be too hard on him as I find sizing things in the field very tricky meself, cheers!

Ha ha, I'll tell him. Despite him being a maths genius his approximations are often a bit out, and I thought there was something familiar about it, dunno if it was you or someone else posted photos not so long back. Anyway that's great, much appreciated, cheers! 👍

Actually he now tells me it must've been around 10cms in length. Monster.
