I felt similarly back in Jan 2023's layoff. It's traumatic, but it gets better over time. I'm sure someone with your skill set and community engagement will find (or even pave!) a path forward.

Or that we've been warning about this for years now, the majority doesn't appear to really care [yet], and there's not much we can do to stop it now. And also we have bills to pay.

I was wondering if anyone would notice that. This is why we have code reviews. Sadly, this platform doesn't seem to support edits or I would have fixed it earlier.

I love Pi Day (for MM/DD locales), but clearly ISO 8601 (YYYY-DD-MM) is the best date format.

It can easily be sorted chronologically just using alphabetic collation, can be used in filenames in most filesystems without escaping, is unambiguous, and is an international standard.

Browsers will un-mangle various mistakes in URLs when they're typed in.

That really should have read https:// at the start.

Don't forget the practice of reading concurring opinions in one's echo chamber of choice and calling it "research".

I used to read books voraciously the customary way, but found out when I listened to the audiobooks that my brain was rushing through the book and missing a lot of the detail, even on rereads.

Also narrators like Ray Porter and Peter Kenny bring far more richness to the story than I can on my own.
