Hadn't been to Christ Church, Phila in a bit. Was reminded yesterday, in this space where Washington, Franklin, Adams worshipped, that it can still be the American Dream to inhabit a diverse community where our differences are celebrated, embraced, rather than maligned. Was a needed reminder.

As an undergrad, I came here because a long-shoreman/poet who turned me on to Tom Waits, said we might run into Bukowski. Never did. But I hung around thinking I was both a tough guy and a poet. I was neither. But I enjoyed imagining it so.
