i have turned on msnbc for the first time since bowing out. will be back to not watching after tonight's results are called. not sure it this counts as coming back.
Anecdote isn't data but I know a ton of people (who obv know I'm in media) and just switched off CNN/MSNBC bc they don't want to hear and see him. They'll be back when the Virginia gov race heats up in 9 months.

i mentioned something similar on a forum: i expect all the late night hosts to be doing podcasts with their top 1-2 writers in the near future instead of their current gigs.
The point everyone's dancing around re. the Colbert firing is one Nate Silver made very clear in the article getting flamed for one stray Bluesky comment: television is a dying medium, and we haven't reckoned with the full implications of that.
