Even with the haze and city lights, the view was briefly pretty spectacular in Winnipeg. So much red!

Go outside and look up!

This shouldn’t happen. We don’t have to accept it.

That corner is Osborne and Brandon Ave, the turn for Churchill Dr. A driver headed southbound turned left into Jakob. She said she had the sun in her eyes. She didn’t yield to a ten year old in the crosswalk.

Our choice is clear. (Quite a pairing in the timeline thanks to @obcycler.bsky.social )

Perfectly normal parking job.

I’m told that @winnipegfreepress.com editors are skeptical that the car we have video of diagonally on the side of the road pointed directly at the ghost bike damaged it in any way. I guess bikes just do this sometimes?

If Janice Lukes and Scott Gillingham hadn’t delayed action this spring, there would already be a concrete barrier here

If you’re wondering whether we still need these changes, a driver hit Rob’s ghost bike THIS MORNING

Just watched a driver attempt to drive down the wrong side of the median on Wellington Cres at Academy, if you’re wondering why we need protection for cyclists and other vulnerable road users.

One of these people believes in the rule of law and the other is leaning into fascism.

Like, my worry is that overstretched educators without a deep understanding of the technology they’re inviting in might see this list and think that it’s possible to achieve with so-called “AI” generative networks, when I think a plain reading of these guidelines precludes use of all extant LLMs.
November 3, 2025 at 7:13 PM
Interesting document from WSD. I think it would be impossible for any commercially-available GenAI or LLM to satisfy every test here, but I suspect the room for interpretation combined with a shortage of educator time will mean adoption of “AI” that does not satisfy all these tests.

Didnt have any bread in the house so I had to use fresh-baked pretzels for toast soldiers this morning

I do not know if I could muster the will to talk with police about improving their procedures after they’ve failed to even apologize for killing my sibling for over a year, but Lori is a better person than I am.
October 23, 2025 at 7:03 PM
Offensive that we have an investigatory body trusted with policing the police that is so transparently biased towards police, and close with the cops, that it can’t even get as much cooperation from witnesses as the damn newspaper did, and then is just satisfied not to hear from people.
October 23, 2025 at 6:57 PM
Impossible to say whether the biggest exculpatory factor in this decision was the fact that Tammy Bateman was Indigenous or homeless, or that her killer is a cop. But likely a large part is that he killed her with a car, and the police fundamentally do not see that as a crime by itself.

Yeah we hit an unconscious person lying in a park, and dragged her under our car, and yes we kept driving, but it was dark, and in our defense, we weren’t looking. Why would anyone be asleep in the park near an encampment?
October 22, 2025 at 8:35 PM
Just an “unfortunate accident” where officers took a human life with no consequence whatsoever. Big oopsie, really, but good thing nobody important got hurt.
