As someone from the inside of MTG, this has become a thing with every Universes Beyond set. In particular, Final Fantasy came out right after WoTC had given enough time that they felt they could ban the One Ring. It took them like two years. There is a pattern.

So there are lot formats: ranging from standard all to vintage, but the thing to understand is that all these format have a metagame. There is often a set of best things you can being doing in the game. Occasionally when the wheels fall off the bus proceeding a ban, there is one definite best thing.

Being WoTC's biggest cash cow, commander becomes the thing with the lowest barrier to entry. Each set Wotc releases a set of precons, which have become increasingly playable out of the box. While they vary in price from set to set, the usually retail for 40 bucks each.

Commander is the big one that most people play for fun. Originally a fan created (and curated) format, Commander is singleton format with a ban list where you build around any Legendary creature that you cast at any time that determines what colors of Magic you can play in your 99 card deck

I think a bit of Gquuux's thesis when it comes to Char is that it is putting to a test Char's final deranged assertion from CCA. But how he reacts to Kycellia is as telling as how be reacts to Lalah. We have someone literally tell us she wants to mother Char and he kills her. Again.

Yes, this is a line from novel Tomino, but the delivery here is begrudging. (Rather than her fantasing about it, she states it wouldn't be so bad to have children who look like the Deikuns.) The implication is that this is something that she is surprised about herself and who her sense of self is

At this point I really do wonder what our boy "Shirouzu" is up to. Given his usual panchent for schemes, he could have a lot goals including:
1) the Classic* (see alt text)
2) using the Solar Ray for his own ends
3) Doing what Kycellia seems to want, but for his own reasons

To be fair, not everyone has the ingenuity of Casval Rem Deikun of just grabbing a rocket launcher.

And Char would get severed, but mostly because he'd think it would help his schemes. However part of the scheme would be to get reintegrated as soon as possible both so he can stick the knife in and also to prevent himself from getting betrayed by himself.

Bright would get severed, but his outie would be his work self, while he'd send his innie home to go visit Mirai and the kids, so even more of his time can be devoted to work.

Amuro would obviously get severed. Amuro's innie would end up about as equally traumatized as usual. Outie Amuro would end up more well adjusted, but be confused about his expanded consciousness and the dead girl who haunts his dreams.

Always worth remembering that the back of the box has a bunch of Gundam quotes that when taken in the context of being on a Char Aznable vibrator are weirdly lewd. They knew what they were doing when they made this.
