DW Akademie resumed its activities in Syria at the end of 2024, again focusing on media training, and is conducting projects with Syrians in exile.

The fall of Syria’s regime offers an opportunity for the country’s media sector, but journalists still face challenges in a volatile environment.

Traveling the Brazilian Amazon from Santarém to Belém aboard the Karolina do Norte, 100 Indigenous community media representatives, climate activists, journalists and media trainers spent three days on the river, learning from and exchanging with each other.

At the @koerber-ip.bsky.social's Exile Media Forum, we recently presented "Media in exile – Resilience mechanisms and survival strategies when covering Afghanistan and Myanmar."

The study shows how exile media sustain operations and serve as lifelines for their communities.
