A Centrist Tory. Please note that my posts are my own personal views.
I’m calling men simps for voting for Kelly Brook because they have a crush on her. Meanwhile, I’m voting for Jack Osbourne because I have a crush on him. I’m such a hypocrite. 🤣🤣🤣🤣.

I’m not even surprised. It was turning into GB News in print, which is adjacent to the Daily Mail.

The telegraph is literally GB News in print. It wouldn’t surprise me if Marshall gets his hands on it soon.
Little @thenewworldmag.bsky.social diary scoop – word on the street is Lisa Nandy’s intervention sunk the Telegraph sale to Redbird.

Meaning the Labour culture secretary has defended the Telegraph’s independence more fiercely than the BBC’s this week…

I’m disturbed and disgusted by Katie Lam’s comments about deporting people who are legally in this country, who are not “culturally compatible”. I don’t recognise her as a rising star or future leader because she has no redeeming qualities, which put her on that level.

Brilliant piece about Paul Marshall. I’ve always been intrigued by how right wingers like him are now buying centre right platforms and publications using them to impose their own narrative to “shift the overton window”.
You might think controlling GB News gives you huge influence over UK politics – especially on the right. But that's just the tip of the iceberg, as we reveal in this week's issue of @thenewworldmag.bsky.social

A statement you don't often hear from Alastair Campbell.

I think the universe doesn’t want me to attend the Tory conference this year. 2 trains to Manchester have cancelled on me and my pass didn’t arrive on time so I have to collect it.

This is how the right wing “shift” the overton window.
1. Take over centre right spaces.
2. Exerting their out of touch opinions by using our platforms.
3. Label centre-right people as “lefties” if they disagree with them.
4. Bring in more right wingers to outnumber us and try to push us out.

The best way our party can defeat reform is to stop pandering to the right through the nonsensical cultural wars and prioritise wealth creation.
NEW BLOGPOST

Tory-Reform defections are increasing, and the Cons should be worried. Not because of the value of the "talent" they are losing, but because it's market signal that they are no longer the party to build a career with on the right.

After the stockport riots I stopped giving the right a fair hearing, because it was at the moment I knew what they were capable of.
think if you're broadly a centrist and were suuuuuper concerned about attacks on free speech from the left and so you decided to give the right a hearing then you need to realise you were taken for QUITE the ride (and don't really have anyone to blame but yourself)

I’m sure LFG and Tom Harwood will clean that up in a jiffy.

As a tory member, I don’t want a merger with reform. They stand for everything I’m against and it will damage our party. It’ll also leave me politically homeless as well.
An incredibly confused editorial from The Mail that doesn't know whether it's backing Reform, calling for a Tory/Reform merger or something else.

It’s sad to see how the centre right sphere is getting polluted by the online right. Their policies are so out of touch and authoritarian. I’ve even seen a fair few sensibles get radicalised by the online right on X. It’s going to get worse.
I do think X is seriously damaging the brains of the UK political class. It's wildly unrepresentative of actual public opinion but is still being treated as such.

(Bluesky isn't representative either obviously but no one treats it as such).

Brilliant article. If Kemi announces that it’s our party’s policy to leave the ECHR, she’s defo going to lose support as she was initially opposed to the idea. One thing people can’t tolerate is being lied to. I also think replacing her with Jenrick is a bad idea. Cleverly or Hunt shd replace her.
I knew this would be happening, but today is the first time I've got an email from someone going 'I asked Gemini to factcheck your newsletter and it says it is wrong' (It wasn't. Gemini was wrong.) Depressing.
Labour can’t turn voters against Nigel Farage if it doesn’t attack him

If Jenrick replaces Badenoch as leader, our party is toast. He’s not the answer. The only candidates who can help us be an effective opposition are either Hunt, Cleverly or Sunak. I think I’m the only Tory who wants Sunak to return tbf.

Firstly his party is divided and secondly the GE isn’t until 2029.
With Reform UK now polling above Labour and the Conservatives, there’s little off the table when Janice Turner goes head to head with Nigel Farage

I used to like it, but the biscoff spread and biscoff chocolates put me off.
