almost forgot to mention the little rig i made for this!! i set up a driver to offset the UVs of the mouth/eyes based on how much you move the matching bone on his face.. i was able to replicate this behavior in unity as well so it all translates in-game :D

very random side project to exist alongside my 1000 other side projects: a parappa engine prototype! it uses a similar scoring system to parappa 1, so silly freestyling is included!!! im gonna try making a fangame around this.....

to end on a lighter note heres a silly 2021 video of that same cat from earlier.. her name is Sookie and while i lived with my mom (yuck!) she was a very cute and loving little kitty.. she'd sit on my lap while i animated :D she's actually the cat that's been on my youtube banner all these years LOL

despite everything i'd always been very good about archiving various moments of my life via my pictures + videos folders id been keeping since 2015.. they can be a source of Great Humor but also a source of Great Pain. heres a video i took of my family's cat using a ps vita in 2015

one last Secret Technique i believe: for some shots, i used blender's "Grease Pencil" feature to animate a segment in 2D, which i'd then essentially trace over with shapes in 3D to have more controlled motion when i wanted it!
