Interestingly, though, the same councillor who proposed the huge council tax rise is also leading the opposition to the Gaelic transport cuts. Cllr. Laura Murtagh says the cut will adversely impact kids - perhaps even breaking their rights under UNCRC.

But the council is undoubtedly under financial strain. This week it passed a 15.6% increase in council tax. A council report claims taxis for GME pupils costs £80,000+ a year.

Falkirk Council hasn’t responded to BBC requests for comment. (Bòrd na Gaelic and parents also complain about lack of communication).

This is one of the strongest interventions I’ve seen from Bòrd na Gaelic’s leaders. If the cut goes ahead, Ealasaid MacDonald said BnG would report the council to the Scottish Government.

She raised concerns about breaking statutory obligations - their present and upcoming Gaelic language plans.
