New paper in ERL! We study the importance of resolution for the representation of climate extremes.

We use a new generation of km-scale models to show that many important details about temperature and precipitation extremes are hidden at CMIP6-like resolutions.

Is there an estimate when it will be up and running again? Asking for teaching and an outreach event on Saturday.

Thanks in advance!

We are extremely grateful to @vscluster.bsky.social to allow us to teach our students on state-of-the-art HPC infrastructure. This is so much fun, and the students and we as lecturers really enjoy it. This semester, we are running ICON climate simulations to compare to digital twins.
Today is #WorldMeteorologicalDay – time to highlight our lecture support that allows students to run their first climate models on an #HPC system.
