What a shame #ScavengersReign never had its second season. I just finished watching the first and it's the most wondrous sci-fi animation I've seen, as if Jean "Moebius" Giraud had animated Stanislaw Lem's SOLARIS with a planet populated by the entries in the Codex Seraphinianus

I do not know for certain but I suspect the criminal slang "fence" — for one who launders stolen property — may also be derived from 'fenster'. Think of the glass partition at a pawn shop or a narrow opening in a wall or armored door for the exchange of illicit goods

Very pleased to see again Lord Kilderkin's manifestation as a cardboard box. I think it might have been this moment in the series that I was won over

Watching Sandman (season 2) and Dream has been taking cues from @theradr.bsky.social's On Repentance and Repair (2022). While on the subject of the history of the Left in 19th century United States, let me plug my history professor's book on the subject: Mark Lause's *Long Road to Harpers Ferry: The Rise of the First American Left* (2018)

Following up on a random Bluesky post recommendation, I just finished watching all four seasons of BLAKES 7 (BBC, 1978-1981). Imagine a neo-imperial Britain on a galactic scale. I read that Paul Darrow (1941-2019), who played the character Avon, wanted the series rebooted. I hope it will someday

I'll go out on a limb: adding Elisha and a heavenly translation, the entire archetype feels very much a part of the "Holy Rider" figure that includes Bellerophon and Hipponous/Pegasus in Greek myth, the angelic entities Sanoi, Sansanoi, and Semanglaf, and Mohammed and Buraq in later Islamic framings

Political historians: I'm looking for the original German document from which the attached "Proclamation of Animal Rights" was ultimately translated. Published in April 1989 by the German Greens, it was disseminated by mail before our Internet Age. Where might something like this even be archived?
