Look, I am very small potatoes as an author. I make too little in royalties to live off them. But I can tell you the reason I got to write my 2nd book was bc the sales of the 1st were very good. That's what else you're eating into by pirating, our ability to keep writing what you claim to love.

Saw something rather sad today.
There's a hollow in my tree where the big ants live. And all the way across the deck an ant dragged its dead companion, trying to get it somewhere.

I honestly think this is why the world is so broken.
My job stopped being "provide a good guest experience and make this hotel function" and started becoming "lie to guests about why we don't have a room for them"

There used to be a massive dead tree near my house. Every year hundreds of crows would flock to it for a multi-day crow symposium.
They cut the tree down, and now those same crows are dive bombing people as they come out of 7-11.
