So this is not the sort of number I lean towards usually. There’s hardly any character or narrative - it’s a dance number, and it sets a tone. I love how slowly it builds, I love the costumes, I love the camerawork. Great fun.

Sadly I’m not actually a “proper” musicals nerd, insofar as the later Sondheim shows still baffle me, Passion included. Which is a shame, as it got Donna Murphy her Tony award and I love her. Here she is doing an old Rosalind Russell classic.
