I came upon a Male Northern Harrier resting and preening in a quiet moment yesterday morning along the Sonoma Coast. I was able to spend about 45 minutes watching it sitting in the early morning light on my way to Jenner Hawkwatch.

Originally I thought this was a female but on reviewing my images there's no doubt this is a young male. He is just getting his adult colors and his gorget feathers are just coming in.
