I will never stop finding out funny that some people think that the fact law firms have diversity fellowships means the forms actually care about in their hiring and promotions processes. "Sure we have a diversity fellowship. Our firm is also 86% white overall and 93% white at the partner level."

When a person is abducted, there's a number to call to report & identify. A habeas petition challenging the abduction is electronically filed in that district, by a lawyer admitted in that district, within 30 minutes of the call. Anywhere in the country, 24 hours a day.

Nothing else is good enough.
hello! i am very curious if anybody is building a rapid response network to file habeas shell petitions for nice people before ice can take them out of state?

Fondly remembering my internship at DoD where I had to lock my phone in a box before going to my cubicle

Either DOJ has no idea what its client is up to, or it is feigning ignorance. Both situations are bad, untenable, and should result in some kind of sanction for someone.
Boasberg says he may need expedited briefing, but to set a schedule, he needs to know if there are any imminent deportations in the next 24 hours of potential class members.

The DOJ attorney says he doesn't know.

MUST-WATCH: This is the arrest of Mahmoud Khalil from the perspective of his wife, who is 8 months pregnant.

This is federal agents in plain clothes dragging a man from his home as punishment for his speech.

That the Fourth Circuit didn’t recognize as much reflects a real failure to understand how chilling effects work, and what the First Amendment requires of a govt (like the one we have) that loves to threaten speakers with vague but scary penalties.

I am glad to know it wasn’t just me with this take—glad I learned First Amendment from @genevievelakier.bsky.social!!
This is a conclusion, to put it bluntly, that ignore six decades of 1A law that recognizes that the govt can violate the 1A when it uses vague threats of legal liability to chill expressive activity, thereby leading speakers to not engage in what might be protected speech

Filed my first motion for post-conviction relief based on a Brady claim late last night. Thanks @evidenceprof.bsky.social for teaching me about this by podcast ten years ago as I meal prepped in my tiny studio kitchen. LFG, for the best client I’ll ever have.

His advice to dems: Lead on your values.

This man ran on a fully inclusive campaign in 2023 and won. He received the same kind of ads Harris did.
