Sample processing is underway for our BACI study of hoe municipal plastic bans affect the types and amounts of riparian trash!

There is something strangely poignant about carefully and gently washing each of these cast-off items, preparing them to become part of something more than just trash.

Here's what our set up looked like. We put a cable through the block and around a tree or bridge piling. Nothing to stop someone unscrewing the lid and taking the logger, but luckily that didn't happen.

Measured some urban stream cross-sections this week. First time using a transit level, and had fun seeing the data come to life in excel. Looking forward to watching this landscape change over time!
