Anyhow. I’m taking this incredibly hard because I’m going to have to stop drawing. There’s been a lot of crying in the bird pen today.

I liked mine! I only upgraded so I could play BG3 (and it was a gift), but I would still be using it if I hadn’t.

Also, what kind of body language says “goofy” to you? Maybe have the standing more pigeon toed? Maybe their clothes are too large? Maybe have the head cocked to one side? Usually, it’s having the character standing stock straight that makes it look “lifeless” more than adding more details to it.

Look at animation stills and how they convey emotions. Also, I was talking more about historical artworks and not modern pop culture stuff. They have more normal people doing normal things. It can give you an idea of how contrapposto can be a subtle tool for dynamism.

I’m not white. If I’ve ever come across as transphobic, I apologize (and, please, any of my trans friends feel free to call me out so I can correct my behavior). I don’t even know WTF the black hole thing is about, but I am a fan of them in the cosmic sense? Like, they’re fascinating?

It’s not just the face you need to focus on when you’re thinking about creating a sense of liveliness in a drawing of a full body person. Also think about the body position. Reference work from the past that you feel has life to it - what gives you that feeling?
