In Monrovia, California, protesters are purchasing 17¢ ICE scrapers from Home Depot and immediately returning them to create long lines and slow down the entire store. Their aim is to disrupt sales and convey a message opposing ICE raids occurring in their neighborhood.

This person said we all think "driving is a moral failing" and that's not how I view things. I am mad that we have created a system where many people have to drive, or think driving is the only safe or efficient option to get where they need to go.

(If you drive a lifted Ram though, fuck you)

It's not that every individual driver is a murderous asshole (I'm not!). It's that car dependency as a whole is dangerous. It's that cars are deadly when they hit people. It's that our society prioritizes drivers above all else. It's about a system that is dangerous for anyone not in a car.

My in-laws were bemoaning the cost of their cars. They live in urban sprawl where there is little around them. On one income, which is about $40k a year they have their insurance due for their two cars. $2700.

Cars keep people poor and kill cohesive communities

This is the solution to the Paradox of Tolerance: It's a contract, not a rule. If you break the terms of the contract, it no longer applies to you. If you won't be tolerant, you don't get to be tolerated.

i have to say, as a trans journalist who has covered the "trans debate" for about a decade now, there is no daylight between how the trump administration and conservatives lie about tylenol and autism and how they've lied about youth trans care.

I am so tired of drivers in their giant vehicles who treat everyone else like second-class citizens & who suck up all the resources in our society & cause everything good to be paved and ugly.
This rant brought to you by the lady who made direct eye contact as she refused to let me cross the street.

If we’re being honest, the biggest threat to urban livability isn’t density or height. It’s the noise, danger, pollution, and wasted space that comes from prioritizing cars above all other modes of transport.

Starting in June, 2023, there have now been 18 consecutive months above the pre-2023 record high, likely the hottest string of 18 months in the last 120,000+ years.

The thing about the “echo chamber” complaint is that none of the people making it have had a new idea in twenty years (and that’s being charitable).

We heard what they had to say. We concluded that it was stupid, cruel, and harmful. We are not obliged to give them a 2nd, 10th, or millionth hearing.
