Reworked a poem I wrote.
The “American Dream™” (a poem)
I don’t dream of the type of labor that builds empires for the ruling class.

What had happened has forced me into this opportunity to truly assess what I want and need out of life and the figure out steps to get there. I find myself in this loop every few years. Constant change, constant death, constant rebirth, constant fresh start.

When will we learn that idol worship will only ever lead to disappointment?

Give praise where it’s due but remember they are not your savior.

After my firing, a regular set me up with a job interview at another coffee shop. I entertained the idea because I’m obviously going to eventually need another job and I would love to stay in coffee.. only to discover they are wanting me to rescue + they are definitely MAGA coded.

I have spent the last few weeks mourning the loss of a radical community space. I spent 2 weeks being ridiculed by the public for speaking out. This is probably going to affect how I find a job in this town..

I was fired after speaking out against unsafe work conditions, health code violations, and organizing the workers to confront our boss.. in the middle of a government shutdown down where benefits are canceled.

Liberals, during the year after losing an election: the left is 100% responsible for this, their third party votes brought our ruination

Liberals, at all other times: the left is tiny and insignificant and we don't need them or their votes, they should start their own party and leave us tf alone

I constantly worry about being able to provide for my family and keeping them safe. I’ve been employed steadily for 20+ years and we’ve built a life and it’s still something I know could all go away with a couple bad months. I feel so bad when I see this happening to others.

My main source of heat lately has been constantly having a hot cup of coffee in my hand, lap, whatever. It’s too fucken cold.

Ever since leaving meta, I’ve had to endure the duality of a relief and suffering. The weight having been lifted from my mental health but also the feeling of displacement on the internet and feeling quite lonely.

Our parks are in chaos. We’ve seen firsthand how Trump’s hiring freeze, the rescinding of hundreds of job offers, and the layoff of 5% of NPS staff have left us overwhelmed and short-handed.
