We don't have enough people doing what they can but I am so grateful to those who are. Thank you.

Actually taking the time to make the call, send the letter, show up to the meeting, write the check, go to the protests, do actual mutual aid. Thank you.

Instead of my usual Friday shift with @supplydepotmpls.bsky.social , I got my 2nd shingles shot and went to the dentist. Then sat on the porch working on hygiene kits and listening to @mskellymhayes.bsky.social . Just what I needed. organizingmythoughts.org/burnout-is-n...

Coats, hand warmers, waterproof gloves, ski masks, emergency blankets (annoying as blankets but ideal taped inside the walls of a tent reflecting the heat back in), dollars for other heat-related items! We can use it all!
i am alternating between unmitgated wordless wrath and furious emotional displacement purchasing for @supplydepotmpls.bsky.social

gotta do something with this, but the only meaningful thing i've come up with is that it's freezing out now, and a lot of people need a coat.

Thinking today how homelessness runs through this story, through Epstein's (Virginia Guiffre had been homeless before meeting him), and even through Gaiman's (his nanny was sleeping on the beach when Palmer recruited her, and he used threats of homelessness against another victim).
The woman whom the House Ethics Committee determined Matt Gaetz paid for sex when she was 17 years old was living in a homeless shelter, working at McDonald's, and needed the money for braces www.nytimes.com/2025/11/13/u...

Like what is the point of going out of your way to sacrifice people like Sarah and Link if it doesn’t even enable you to get at people like Singal? Don’t can’t pretend you care about inciting violence and then utterly fail to actually protect against the worst perpetrators.
It doesn’t really change anything about my view. We need to stop whining about hard it is and look at the outcomes. If these outcomes are the best we can do, then we haven’t actually solved a problem. We’re just pissing people off for no reason.

The reality is that your judgment has to be rooted in your values. That's what's going to determine what you reward and what you punish. And if you're not clear on your values, then they will emerge clearly through your actual actions. In short, Link is banned, Jesse Singal is not. So now we know.

To recap: Jeffrey Epstein offered a NY Times reporter photos taken in Epstein's kitchen of Donald Trump and girls in bikinis *and* implored the NYT reporter to put this information in the public discourse in 2015

What did the NY Times editors know about this offer?

The work we do at @avalonhousing.bsky.social is a housing first, permanent supportive housing model; organizations like ours are being targeted for actually implementing the evidence-based practices known to help our neighbors survive. This punitive desire has already been tried and fails miserably
Housing First approaches to homelessness, that prioritize getting a stable roof over people's heads before addressing trauma from the streets & other issues, prove to lead to long term stability. Rounding every homeless person up for forced mental health care which is incarceration is not the way!
I'm a mad person who's lived on the streets & knows a lot of mad people & I know that people like me are disproportionately inclined to homelessness & I don't like when that gets taken out of the conversation. But our reality is that late stage American capitalism can push anyone to the streets.

Many people were driven into military service because impoverished communities had so few choices for escaping a cycle of poverty, it was the only path by design. This Veteran's Day I think of them, and others who laid down their lives for a country betraying its own principles of "freedom."

Before the ACA, I met a young woman, maybe in her early thirties, and she told me that she had no insurance because she had maxed out her insurance at the age of 17 with a bone marrow transplant!

A “promise” of an ACA subsidy vote by the 2nd week of December means jack shit when open enrollment is RIGHT NOW & the deadline to secure coverage by January 1st is… the 2nd week of December.

Whether that’s something they don’t realize or something they just don’t care about, they all need to go.
Tentative Senate deal to end shutdown, multiple sources tell me & @frankthorp.bsky.social:

—CR through Jan 30
—Approps minibus
—Fully funds SNAP
—Reverses Trump’s shutdown RIFs
—Promise of Senate vote on ACA subsidies by Dec second week (details/outcome uncertain)
