We denounce the administration’s efforts to expand the school-to-prison-to-deportation pipeline and continue to call on school and city leaders to keep immigration enforcement away from our children.

Let us be clear: policing infrastructure, including school police officers, security guards, and surveillance do not make our communities safer.

Education leaders must invest in resources and services that make school welcoming for immigrant students and families such as counselors, newcomer programs, physical and health professionals, and restorative justice.

We are at a crossroads. Either we defend every child’s right to learn, or we allow fear and racism to dictate how children experience schools.

We are calling on all school leaders — whether they serve as public school superintendents or school board members, or are school leaders of a public or private school — to do everything in their power to protect immigrant students.

Toddlers and young children cried as they witnessed armed agents violently arrest their teacher. No child should have to choose between going to school and staying safe.

This attack on our multi-racial democracy represents the last-ditch efforts of white supremacy to entrench itself in power by limiting who has power. It's imperative we speak out to protect the right to vote for all Americans.

21 million eligible voters, about 1 in 10 adult citizens, do not readily have access to any proof of citizenship. Half of all Americans—146 million people—do not have a passport at all. 69 million American citizens don’t have a birth certificate with their current legal name on it.

The nonpartisan Election Assistance Commission (EAC) has been asked to amend the federal voter registration form to require Americans to provide unnecessary documentary proof of citizenship when registering to vote.

This is a blatant attempt to suppress the vote and creates a modern day poll tax.
