New analysis shows that if regions "repurposed larger shares of their transportation expenditures into “multimodal” solutions, like bus, rail, & biking, governments could collectively save $1 trillion in public expenditures by 2050."

It's wild but not surprising that last week the White House was leaning into "these seditious Democrats dared suggest that troops were receiving illegal orders!!!" and this week they are scrambling to figure out who to blame for issuing illegal orders.

One of the things I can't stand about the "free transit" bros is that they discount the needs and desires of female riders. Enforcing TAP to ride (even when the TAP card provides free fare) is proven to keep the stations + trains cleaner and safer.

Emmanuel, a 15-year-old with intellectual disabilities, wandered away from his mom’s fruit stand in October.

She reported him missing to Houston police. But instead of reuniting them, the city turned him over to ICE.

“They’re failing all of us,” his mom said.

Thriving in independent media for 25 years, without a) getting hoovered into some larger media org & subsequently axed, b) getting ruined by some hedge fund guy, c) falling afoul of any short-lived "pivot to video" style trends, or d) going broke...

... is a genuinely remarkable achievement! Kudos.

I’m still thinking about “quiet, piggy.” No president should be able to speak to a member of the press that way and remain president. That moment encapsulates how vile, misogynistic, and horrible that man is.

First amendment much? Lambasted for asking a question. That is what journalists do. They ask questions.

I think this kind of protesting is at best ineffective, at worst counterproductive. Portland always seems to have the protests with the worst optics. (Also, this is aerobics, not yoga. How did multiple people post this as yoga? Also, yoga was very obscure in the 80s.)
Anti-ICE protesters held an 80’s-themed yoga class outside the Portland ICE facility.

Far too many liberal/left nonprofit advocacy groups embraced the Omnicause and hurt their missions by doing stuff just like this. It's a shame to see what happened to Sierra, but this should serve as a warning and be required reading for all nonprofit boards and executive teams.
The Sierra Club Embraced Social Justice. Then It Tore Itself Apart.

The environmental group gave up its singular focus on climate change for a broader agenda. The ensuing internal strife left it weakened.

This is a common and unfortunate pattern.

They think they're kings, princes, dukes, and barons. They control the government, and that makes them royalty, and that means our money should be used to buy them planes and gold-plated toys and gilded ballrooms
