This relationship points to MHC class I's role as a signal-transducing molecule within innate and adaptive immunity.​ Mechanistic Relationship Dimerization of MHC class I molecules on THP-1 monocytic cells inducibly stimulates iNOS expression and NO release.​ MHC class I overexpression in human myoblasts similarly increases NO production, suggesting this pathway may be relevant in both immune and non-immune cells.​ Notably, simple binding (monovalent ligation) of MHC class I is insufficient; cross-linking/dimerization appears required for effective iNOS induction.​ Functional and Regulatory Aspects NO produced following MHC class I dimerization has broad immunological roles, including cellular toxicity, shaping T helper responses, and possibly linking innate and adaptive immunity.​

Just learned about Esther Moyal (nee Al Azhari, b. Beirut 1874) and her husband Shimon Moyal (b. Jaffa 1866), a Jewish couple, involved in early Arab renaissance AND Zionist movements, wrote in Arabic to promote understanding between Jews and (esp. Muslim) Arabs

No, according to Wikipedia the calls for a "Jew hunt" were after the initial attacks. Where did you get the information that they were organised weeks in advance?
After the incidents on Wednesday night and throughout Thursday, calls for attacks on Israeli supporters were shared via Telegram, Snapchat,[13] and WhatsApp.[4] At least one chat referred to it as a "Jew hunt".[4]

I genuinely don't know what the Liverpool Student Union bake soc meant by "Time for Dessert" and how they see October 7th. Perhaps as the second. But for Jewish students, for whom it's the first, you can imagine how they read it.

I remember as a child watching the handshake between Rabin and Arafat when it seemed within touching distance. 2/2 I have always believed in the idea. Now that future is jeopardy. The order from extremist ministers Ben Gvir and Smotrich to expand settlements in the El corridor, which splits the West Bank in two, has the express purpose of killing off a Palestinian state. If we do not act now the only just solution to this conflict will be rendered impossible. The UK is recognising the State of Palestine to keep that hope alive. We need this to be the start of a process to realise a two-state solution, which has been the policy of every British Government for the past 30 years. If we don't act there is a risk that will become impossible. More than 75 years ago, the world recognised the self-determination of the Jewish people: a Jewish and democratic homeland in Israel. Today, the UK joins over 150 other countries to recognise the self-determination of the Palestinian people. I know the strength of feeling this provokes. Some of you believe this shouldn't be happening now, while others have told me that this should have happened a long time ago. Recognition is important, but recognition alone won't bring about peace. Action is needed. We are at the start of a difficult road. One which requires an end to the war, the return of the hostages, and a commitment to rebuild Gaza. Israelis and Palestinians working for peace deserve our support. That is how we will bring hope to a region which has suffered so much. There is no excuse for annexing Palestinian land in the West Bank. There is no excuse for vowing to "erase" Gaza, and no excuse for settler violence. The war must end. And the world must offer some hope. For decades leaders have spoken of two states.

Fascinating article on bagel pronunciation in the UK. There's a north / south divide (in UK) matching the north / south divide in Yiddish speaking E Europe where the different communities came from!

And, let us not forget the Great North-South Divide, better known as Litvaks (northerners) vs. the southern tribes: Póylishe, Galitsyáner, Volíner, Besaráber, Úngarishe and more. For the Northerners (and the various Ukrainian-area southerners), it's beygl (with the diphthong as in case or trait). For some of the southerners, and most emphatically all true Póylishe, it is baygl (approximating the diphthong in bike or bite). London Yiddish had quite a Póylish contingent at its formation, hence the survival of baygl, while the Litvaks (and their allies on this particular vowel) claimed the day in Liverpool, Scotland, Wales
