So...how long d'y'all think it'll be until we get the exposé detailing how all those Venmo payments went right into Trump's pocket?

60-70% of owning a black cat is tossing your place looking for the creature while they watch you from a black cushion or dark patch of rug

At least he was actually under something this time 🐈‍⬛

Finally got some snow; here's the beach cliffs near me with a dusting of powder.

Winter is amazing, y'all ❄️

First read this behemoth when I was around 12-13, and it really stuck with me. I love the idea of all this wild stuff just outside our perception. Nice little cross between fantasy and horror.

I know it's one of his least favourite books, but I like it.

C'mon y'all. I said I loved weird narrative structures so you had to know this infamous title was coming.

I'll never figure out how on earth he managed to get this trad pubbed as a debut, but I'm glad he did. Huge fan of typography as part of the narrative.

A great intro if you wanna know more about science but find it all really overwhelming and intimidating.

Bryson employs humour and humanising anecdote to explain how we know what we know (or knew, since we're a post-truth society now... 🫠 )

Please read it.

A scene in this book actually gave me goosebumps. That almost never happens. So it's earned a spot.

Also Dan Wells is part of the great team over at the Writing Excuses podcast, which is pretty neat. You should check it out. Or not. I'm not your mother.

Look, weird narrative styles are my kink. I'm a sucker for a wonky timeline.

The deeper questions it asks about rehabilitation are relevant, too, as we continually wrestle with deciding which horrible people get to be rehabbed back into society.

Spellbinding. This is how you get people interested in niche subjects. Artfully interwoven with humour and anecdote and painstakingly researched.

Get bemushroomed, punk. Get absolutely myceliumed.🍄

Rare school reading W. It was my first exposure to stream of consciousness writing and felt so deeply human. This is how, in my experience, people actually behave around death.

Also c'mon. The "my mother is a fish" line is literary gold.

so today i let my crepes go cold digging into a writing opportunity i was interested in.

not a scam, but not quite ethical enough for my tastes. still!

realised folks probs wanna know how i researched them, to help w/ their own process in vetting work.

I finished this last month and it's already a firm favourite. It's got a pendulum swing between relatably hilarious and relatably tragic. It sang to my wistful nostalgia, and then suplexed it.

Leave the (s)hillbilly elegy. Take the crapalachia.

that 20 books challenge has been on my mind. so I'mma do it, but with a twist.

Basically, I cannot *not* talk about these books. They stuck with me for a reason. so I'm gonna 'hear me out' at you about them.
