Most of the code I toy with at home will never see "production use" or be "techcnically competitive" with the pros of the specific field BUT it forces me to think about new things in ways don't usually think, and it makes me so much better at pretty much anything else. Plus I don't get bored.

Being open to learning is being already on the right way (and frankly what makes things interesting, it would be very boring using always the same set of knowledge and tools, even if it works).

Most "AI artists" just want to be "the boss" indeed. Which is sad because in any artistic endeavour working with others is an incredibly boost for ideas and for better understanding the craft. And humility of course, of which these people have or desire none.

My guess considering this government's attitude towards science is it's totally not about doing proper science and very much about being able to fabricate science by inducing massive biases and then saying "our science said so". Plus the monstruous AI bubble speculation intereset of course.

In Italian we used both "floppy" (untranslated) and "diskette" ("dischetto") for both 5.25 and 3.5. Hard disk translated to both "disco rigido" (literal, we often used the English term too) and "disco fisso" (fixed disk) and nobody would ever think of using it to refer to floppies.
