Oh my goodness! I have almost exactly the same fan and almost exactly the same thing has happened! Luckily for me, mine still (sort of) works. But, after your experience, I'm rather apprehensive about using it...

Pinces Gardens, in Exeter. 150 years old, and often said to be the second longest wisteria arch in the country (citation needed!). Some years, local residents have held a little fair in the park to celebrate it flowering by drinking tea, watching a puppet show, etc. It smells wonderful too!

I grew up in a pub and we always had one of these cards on the wall behind the bar. Weirdly, the lowest line of packets would mysteriously disappear...
