In this blog post, I explore the implications of UN Convention on Biological Diversity Decision 16/2 establishing the #CaliFund for database managers and companies. I examine the need for legal harmonization, including through potential linkages with the #PandemicAgreement.
🌎 The @unbiodiversity.bsky.social's #CBD Decision 16/2 sets new rules for sharing benefits from the use of #DSI, requiring company contributions to the #CaliFund. Legal uncertainties on the #PandemicAgreement highlight the need for legal harmonization.

In this Snapshot, I discuss the implications of #CBD COP decision on Digital Sequence Information for #PandemicAgreement.

I argue the decision marks a new beginning for #DSI regulation, highlighting the need to establish a #PABS system addressing legal clarity and equity from health perspective.
