This book (two essays) by the Boyarin brothers is 20+ years old, but it was one of my favorite reads last year. The Powers of Diaspora. I’ll be using the first essay, “Tricksters, Martyrs, and Collaborators,” for a forthcoming newsletter post.

Hey, I’m Adam. I’m a son, spouse, brother, dad, and friend. I am disabled and have brain cancer, and that drives my advocacy. l also blog about Jewish studies as a left, fringe, small community, suburban, midwestern states diaspora Jew. In the small space I build here I’ll talk about the latter. ✌🏽
